I applied twice. The first one was declined for two reasons:
-I didn't have at least one Turkish Airlines flight processed in my account.
-My existing status (being matched from) needed to be valid for at least 2 months.
At that time, I explained that I already had a TK flight reservation and sufficient points to renew my Gold status, but they still declined.
After I flew a one-way segment with TK and my Qatar Gold status was officially renewed, I applied again.
This time, I was successful and received a status challenge!
