I also contacted the Marriott Bonvoy Rewards support line to inquire about a status challenge for the Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite. I had to speak like a silly person to the automated voice prompts ("speak to a re-pre-sen-ta-tive!", "no!") several times before getting to a service rep. They are all extremely nice and asked which tier I'd like to challenge for (9 nights or 16 nights within 90 days for Gold/Platinum), and no a question about my IHG status. And that was it! The challenge has begun!
