Provided pdf proof of existing BAEC Gold status and valid PNR for upcoming VS Upper Class flight (cash paid for Prem Econ, upgrade voucher used for Upper Class). Status match request denied due to following reason, which I consider to be fair enough considering that VS extended my Silver Status beyond its original validity due to Covid : Unfortunately, as you have been status matched previously to a Silver status we couldn’t offer you another status match. The status match is only for a year and then the member is expected to maintain the status on their own. As your account is scheduled to revert its status this would indicate that you do not travel enough to maintain Silver or Gold status.

Status match seems to be quite a 'selective', or perhaps even an 'inconsistent', program in that some people may have better "luck" than others. With a Silver status with Marriott Bonvoy and a Platinum award from IHG, both earned, I was told at first that thay do not provide any status match. When pressed, they said that such awards are sometimes given out. A friend received a gold status a couple of days earlier, even though his stays are quite infrequent. Does it depend on 'whom' you might encounter on the phone to be 'fortunate'?
