Buy an initial IHG One Rewards Membership for $200 or around £167. Then the upon your period of next membership renewal a year later, pay for your membership again, and your Diamond Elite Status MAY be extended by an additional 12 months. Please note: There is currently only a 50/50% chance of this working, as some customers have said that this doesn't always work for them, but others it does. Apparently, IHG says it's a not well known extra membership perk, that they allow you to keep your IHG Diamond Elite status that you have earned, after initially paying for, and subsequently renewing after a minimum period of 12 months, after the first time of purchase. I recently had my Diamond Elite tier status, extended from 31/12/2022, to 31/12/2023 using this method that IHG provides knowingly after recently renewing my own IA Membership.
