I called the Bonvoy hotline at +1-888-236-2427. Was offered a status match challenge of Gold if I stayed 8 nights in 3 months or Platinum if I stayed 16 nights in 3 months. I went with the Gold challenge as this was more likely. There was no verification of my existing status. I was offered to provide the date I wanted the 3 month challenge to start.

Choice Privileges
Choice asks for your full name, Choice Privileges member number, and proof of elite status with the program (Hilton Honors), which includes a screenshot or copy of the loyalty card with expiration date or screenshot or copy of program’s statement or account status page. After sending an email to [email protected] with screenshots of both my Hilton Honors dashboard with points total and virtual loyalty card with Silver elite status, they respond but get snippy about not seeing an expiration date even though it doesn’t exist. It takes a few tries between Choice’s copy-and-paste response asking for a screenshot of the card with an "expiration date”, but after sending them the same screenshots about 3 times, they finally folded to congratulate me on Gold status with them.
